IMPORTANT:

Bellever Tor Dartmoor Outing - Safety & Logistics Update (This Saturday)

Dear Plymstock Camera Club Members,

This Saturday, we look forward to our photographic outing to the scenic Bellever Tor on Dartmoor. Please read this entire email carefully, as it contains essential safety and logistical information that must be followed for your own well-being.

1. Essential Logistics & Meeting Point

  • Location: Bellever Tor Car Park, Dartmoor

  • Time: To be confirmed subject to the weather. Bruce will confirm to members via Whatsapp on Friday

  • Parking: Please bring coins or the relevant app for car parking charges.

2. Mandatory Safety Requirements (Dartmoor Weather)

Dartmoor is an exposed environment, and safety is our top priority. Please adhere to these mandates:

  • Footwear is Non-Negotiable: You must wear sturdy, waterproof walking boots with good ankle grip. Trainers or leisure shoes are unsuitable for the uneven, potentially wet terrain.

  • Layer Up: Bring multiple layers, including a windproof and waterproof outer jacket and trousers. A warm hat, gloves, and a spare fleece/jumper are essential, regardless of the forecast.

  • Hydration: Bring a minimum of 1 litre of water (a hot drink is also highly recommended). Pack some snacks/energy bars.

3. On-Site Procedures

  • Watch Your Step: Please prioritise safe footing over the shot. Be mindful of uneven ground, rocks, and trip hazards, especially when carrying tripods and heavy equipment.

  • Buddy System & Communication: Please try to walk with at least one other member. If you decide to leave the main group or return to your car early, you must inform another member first.

  • Mobile Signal: Be aware that signal is often intermittent. The primary club contact for the day is Bruce on 07966567770.

4. Respecting the Moor

  • Please maintain a safe and respectful distance from all Dartmoor ponies and other livestock. Do not feed, approach, or attempt to touch them.

5. Weather Contingency

In the event of severe weather warnings, a decision regarding postponement or change of location will be communicated by Friday evening.

We are looking forward to a great day of photography! By attending this outing, you confirm you have read, understood, and will abide by these safety notices.
