Ready, Steady, Shoot! Your Guide to Plymstock Camera Club

Ever feel like your camera is just a very expensive paperweight? Do you have a treasure trove of photos on your hard drive that never see the light of day? Or are you simply looking for a fun new hobby that combines creativity with community?

Then you've come to the right place! Plymstock Camera Club is throwing open its doors to new members, and our jam-packed autumn programme is the perfect taster of what we're all about. Forget stiff, formal meetings we're all about sharing, learning, and having a great time with people who love photography as much as you do.

So, what can you expect when you join us?

The Grand Welcome (September 9th)

Our first night is all about getting to know each other. We’ll dive into a friendly chat about what makes a photo truly stand out from the crowd. We'll also be taking a look at our club's fun and friendly competitions for the year. This is your chance to shine and have your photos critiqued by fellow enthusiasts in a supportive environment.

And don't be shy! We'll have a session called "Opening Shots," where a few members will to share some of their photo projects from the summer. It's a great way to get inspired and see the different kinds of photography our members love.

Show and Tell (September 16th)

This is your moment to shine! Bring along up to three of your favourite photos—whether they're from a recent holiday, a family gathering, or a creative project you've been working on. This is a brilliant opportunity to share your work, tell the stories behind your images, and get a feel for the friendly, supportive atmosphere of the club.

Time to Learn (September 23rd)

Ready to up your game? Our Learning Night is all about getting hands-on with some exciting new skills. This time, we'll be focusing on the art of portraits and the timeless beauty of black-and-white photography. Presented by our very own Matt and Sue, this is a fantastic chance to pick up practical tips and tricks that will transform your photography.

The Big Reveal (September 30th)

We'll round off the month with the first of our 'PDI' nights. Don't let the name scare you it just stands for Projected Digital Images! This is a chance for members to show off their best work in our "Own Choice/Colour" competition. Think of it as a fun, low-pressure exhibition where your colourful creations get to take centre stage. It's a fantastic way to see the amazing talent within the club and get some gentle feedback on your own images.

So, whether you're a complete beginner with a brand-new camera or a seasoned snapper looking for a creative outlet, Plymstock Camera Club is the place for you. We can't wait to see you there!
